Sukosari Evolution Carnival: Thousands Celebrate Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day with a Vibrant Parade
JEMBER RECORDJATIM.ID – Thousands of villagers from Sukosari flocked to the streets to witness and participate in the Sukosari Evolution Carnival, a grand celebration held to commemorate Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day.

The carnival, which served as the climax of a month-long series of events, took place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
The event saw an enthusiastic crowd stretch along a 3-kilometer route, starting from the new village hall and concluding in Sukosari village, Sukowono sub-district. Participants wore a diverse array of traditional costumes and colorful attire, parading to the rhythm of music throughout the journey.
According to Romadhon, the Village Head of Sukosari, the carnival was the “main event” after nearly a half-month of consecutive celebrations.
“This carnival is the grand finale of our August events,” he stated.
He further explained that around a thousand participants from 17 community groups (RWs) within Sukosari took part in the competition. A panel of judges from the Tourism Office and independent assessors evaluated the participants from a designated venue in front of the village hall.
With the theme “New Sukosari, Advanced Sukosari,” Romadhon hopes the event will foster a stronger sense of unity and harmony among the villagers.
Local authorities expressed their full support for the carnival. Iptu Budi, the Head of Sukowono Police, assured that security forces, including the police, military (Koramil), and sub-district officials, would provide maximum security to ensure the event ran safely and smoothly.
Similarly, Captain C.K.E Alliyil Abror from the Sukowono Military Command (Koramil) voiced his strong support, hoping the event would be
“secure, conducive, and free from any unwanted incidents.”
Jono Wasinudin, the Sukowono Sub-district Head, noted that many villages were holding similar celebrations for the 80th Independence Day. “Every village is
showcasing their own events to highlight their community,” he said. As a resident of Sukosari himself, he pledged his full support for the carnival.
Wasinudin concluded by emphasizing the importance of such events in reminding the public of Indonesia’s difficult struggle for independence.
“Through these activities, we can all participate in filling and honoring our nation’s independence,” he said.*
